LouieThe above prices are a guide. I can give you a firm quote once I see your dog. This particularly applies for any dogs crossed with Poodles (eg. moodles, spoodles, labradoodles etc,) as there can be quite a lot of size variance depending on whether the dog is crossed with a toy, mini or standard poodle.

SPECIAL NOTE:

Matted dogs: Extra $10-30 (small dogs) Extra $10-40 (medium dogs)Sebastian

Extra charges for matting will depend on the extent of the matts. As a general guide mild matting starts to set in on a “fluffy” dog that has not been groomed in 8-12 weeks. Some dogs of course tend to matt faster than others. Dogs that have not been groomed in 4 months or more tend to have significant matting often around the ears, legs and privates and this of course increases the difficulty of the groom for both your dog and the groomer and blunts clipper blades quite quickly.Matts don’t allow the dog’s skin to breathe properly which of course will effect how the fur will sit after they have been removed when the air does get into it. They make the perfect home for fleas and they pull the skin due to their weight and tightness (think of your hair being in a pony tail that is too tight 24/7!). Due to these factors, grooms involving matt removal usually take much longer and you will always get the best results and have a happy, healthy poochy when your fluffy dog is groomed every 4-8 weeks.

Dog Size Guide

Below is a guide to help you identify what size category your dog might fall into. This guide is an approximation as there are many breeds that have multiple sized dogs but the dog’s breed name doesn’t always reflect the size (eg. King Charles Cavailier Spaniels come in 2 sizes yet the smaller version is not officially referred to as a “miniature”). Cross breeds can also make size approximations tricky as it depends on the individual dog. Extreme obesity can also place a dog in the next size category due to the extra time required and the exhausting nature of the groom.

If you are unsure of where your dog fits (as can often happen with medium vs. large dogs) I can quote you the price for 2 categories (eg. medium and large dog price) and if you are happy with this range I can give you a firm quote on the day when I see your dog.

Typical Small Dogs Pomeranian, Chihuahua, Shih Tzu, Maltese, Miniature Poodle, Toy Poodle, Yorkshire Terrier, West Highland Terrier, Beagle, Dachshund, Miniature Schnauzer, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (thin boned/miniature), Pug, Lhasa Apso, Bichon Frise, Scottish Terrier, Corgi, Jack Russell.
. ..
Typical Medium Dogs Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Border Collie, Australian Cattle Dog, Basset Hound, King Charles Cavalier Spaniel (standard), Cocker Spaniel, Spoodle, Standard Schnauzer.
. ..
Typical Large Dogs Labrador, Golden Retriever, Full size Collie, German Shepherd, Standard Poodle, Dalmatian, Greyhound.

Special Note on Standard Poodles and Cocker Spaniels:

Sorry no style cuts for Cocker Spaniels. Standard full body clips (same length blade all over the dog) only.

I am no longer doing clips for Standard Poodles.

FAQ: Will you clip my dog without a bath/dry?

The answer to this question is always no. There are a few reasons why. The primary reason is a professional bath (initial hydrobath, full body hand scrub, a second hydrobath, then full body conditioner) leaves your dog much cleaner than any manual hand bath alone ever could. The drying process then causes the dog’s furr to lengthen and straighten. The dog is now prepared properly for a high quality clip that will be even and consistent. Without this process of intense cleaning and lengthening the coat through drying, the clip will appear uneven as it grows out and particularly uneven after a few baths at home. I am unwilling to put my name or the Doggy H2O name to a clip that has not been done according to the way it should be. Clipping is like painting. The final clip may appear to be done quickly and effortlessly however the ability to do this and the quality of the final result very much depends on the quality of the preparation.

In addition to my firm belief that the process should be done properly to achieve a professional result, it is just not feasible for a business where travel is involved (and the time required for travel) to offer such small services as a clip only.

Doggy H2O only offers services that I know will give your dog the best possible result. If I wouldn’t do it to my dogs I won’t offer it to your dog.
